Renewal of glyphosate approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017\/2324 renewing the approval of the active substance glyphosate and amending the Annex to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540\/2011 was published on 15 December 2017. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The approval of glyphosate is renewed for 5 years from the 16 December 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In order to take into account the conclusions of the glyphosate review report, Member States must pay particular attention to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014 the <\/span><b>protection of the groundwater<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in vulnerable areas, in particular with respect to non-crop uses,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014 the <\/span><b>protection of operators and amateur users<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014 the <\/span><b>risk <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to <\/span><b>terrestrial vertebrates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>non-target terrestrial plants<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014 the <\/span><b>risk <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to diversity and abundance of <\/span><b>non-target terrestrial arthropods and vertebrates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> via trophic interactions,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014 <\/span><b>compliance of pre-harvest uses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with good agricultural practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conditions of use shall include <\/span><b>risk mitigation measures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, where appropriate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Member States shall ensure that use of plant protection products containing glyphosate is <\/span><b>minimised <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in <\/span><b>areas used by the general public or by vulnerable groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Member States shall ensure <\/span><b>equivalence <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">between the specifications of the technical material, as commercially manufactured, and those of the test material used in the toxicological studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Member States shall ensure that plant protection products containing glyphosate <\/span><b>do not contain the co-formulant POE-tallowamine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (CAS No 61791-26-2).
