The evaluation by ANSES (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health &amp; Safety) of applications for the renewal of authorisation of glyphosate-based PPPs according to Article 43 of Regulation (EC) 1107\/2009 is in progress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To date, 190 glyphosate-based products are authorised in France or benefit from a parallel trade permit. <\/span><b>58 applications for PPPs renewal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><b>11 applications for new PPPs approval<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> were submitted to ANSES. Regarding the <\/span><b>132 products for which \u00a0renewal application was submitted<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, ANSES notified the products\u2019 holders of the <\/span><b>expiry of approvals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> or parallel trade permits as from <\/span><b>15 December 2018<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The list of products concerned has been published on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ephy.anses.fr\/actualites\/arriv%C3%A9e-%C3%A9ch%C3%A9ance-%E2%80%99autorisations-produits-base-glyphosate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E-phy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For products intended for <\/span><b>professional use<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the end of sale and distribution of the products is set to 15\/03\/2019 and the end of use of the products and stocks is set to 15\/06\/2019.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For products intended for <\/span><b>amateur use<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, no grace period is granted in view of the entry into force on 1 January 2019 of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/affichTexte.do?cidTexte=JORFTEXT000028571536&amp;dateTexte=20181204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Labb\u00e9\u2019s law<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (February 2014) amended by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/affichTexte.do?cidTexte=JORFTEXT000031044385&amp;dateTexte=20181204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Energetic transition law<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (August 2015) and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/affichTexte.do?cidTexte=JORFTEXT000034228050&amp;dateTexte=20181204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Potier\u2019s law<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (March 2017), prohibiting the marketing and holding of non-professional PPPs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ANSES announces that the evaluation of the new approval applications and renewal applications will be finalized before<\/span><b> 31 December 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, within the three-year period announced by the government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition, the evaluation of the new approval applications and renewal applications will be conducted on the basis of a <\/span><b>comparative assessment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of the products: based on the information that will be provided on the available alternatives commonly used in France, particularly by INRA (French National Institute for Research in Agriculture), ANSES will compare, for each use, glyphosate products with the non-chemical methods of prevention or control that are available. <\/span><b>For each glyphosate-based product, uses for which there is an alternative that meets the substitution criteria will therefore be prohibited.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Finally, in order to support farmers foregoing glyphosate use, the government launched a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glyphosate.gouv.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">website<\/span> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sharing experiences from farmers who have already taken part in this initiative and describing possible alternatives to glyphosate.
