{"id":4583,"date":"2020-12-30T08:42:11","date_gmt":"2020-12-30T08:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lynxee.consulting\/?p=4583"},"modified":"2023-01-26T09:10:26","modified_gmt":"2023-01-26T09:10:26","slug":"france-ban-of-neonicotinoids-a-derogation-for-sugar-beets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lynxee.consulting\/en\/france-ban-of-neonicotinoids-a-derogation-for-sugar-beets\/","title":{"rendered":"FRANCE: Ban of Neonicotinoids &#8211; A Derogation for Sugar Beets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Law establishing a possibility of derogation from the ban on neonicotinoids and other substances having the same mode of action in case of emergency situations for sugar beets was released in mid-December 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The derogations will be set by <\/span><b>joint orders <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of the Ministers of Agriculture and of the Environment after the <\/span><b>release of an opinion by a new dedicated Supervisory Board<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Derogations will be granted according to the procedures provided for emergency situations in the European regulation by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Article 53 of <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=CELEX:02009R1107-20191214&amp;qid=1609940510526&amp;from=EN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Regulation (EC) No 1107\/2009<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Derogations may only be granted in the case of treated seeds <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(spray treatments are therefore excluded) and <\/span><b>only until 1st July 2023<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, pending alternative solutions are developed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To limit potential impacts on pollinators, the Law also stipulates that <\/span><b>seeding or planting attractive crops in treated fields shall be temporarily banned<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In parallel, the Decree updating the list of banned neonicotinoids and other active substances with an identical mode of action was also released (see our previous article).
