{"id":4850,"date":"2021-06-21T09:08:58","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T09:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lynxee.consulting\/?p=4850"},"modified":"2023-01-26T09:05:47","modified_gmt":"2023-01-26T09:05:47","slug":"europe-new-pelmo-and-pearl-versions-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lynxee.consulting\/en\/europe-new-pelmo-and-pearl-versions-released\/","title":{"rendered":"EUROPE: New PELMO and PEARL Versions Released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">New versions of the models <b>PELMO (<\/b><em><b>i.e.<\/b><\/em><b> v.6.6.4)<\/b> and <b>PEARL (<\/b><em><b>i.e.<\/b><\/em><b> v.5.5.5)<\/b> used for Predicted Environmental Concentrations in Groundwater (PECgw) calculations, accompanied by a new version of the <b>Generic Guidance for Tier 1 FOCUS GroundWater Assessments (<\/b><em><b>i.e.<\/b><\/em><b> v.2.3) <\/b>were released by the FOrum for Co-ordination of pesticide fate models and their USe (FOCUS DG SANTE).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The FOCUS DG SANTE recommends that the previous versions of the generic guidance (v.2.2), of PELMO (v.5.5.3) and of PEARL (v.4.4.4) should no longer be used in submissions made <b>after 1 January 2022<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Updates of version 2.3 of the generic guidance are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Update of the equations for converting pH measured in CaCl2 and KCl to pH measured in H2O, and,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Irrigation water in PELMO and PEARL is now applied at the soil surface for the crops apples, citrus and vines,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">both to reflect the EFSA guidance on PECsoil calculation (<a href=\"https:\/\/efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/epdf\/10.2903\/j.efsa.2017.4982\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EFSA Journal 2017;15(10):4982<\/a>);<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Update on guidance on pesticide property parameter derivation in case of pH dependence, to reflect the EFSA report on the \u2018repair action\u2019 on the FOCUS surface water scenarios (<a href=\"https:\/\/efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/epdf\/10.2903\/j.efsa.2020.6119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EFSA Journal 2020;18(5):6119<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Reference to the OECD 106 evaluators checklist in relation to equilibrium sorption parameters added <i>(<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/epdf\/10.2903\/sp.efsa.2017.EN-1326\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EFSA supporting publication 2017:EN-1326<\/a><i>)<\/i>;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">New options for defining transformation product formation fractions in PELMO;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Correction to periods to crop factors (<em>Kc<\/em>) for the crop onions at the Porto and Thiva scenarios;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Reference added to the new endorsed guidance determining aged (non equilibrium) sorption parameters (<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/food\/system\/files\/2021-01\/pesticides_ppp_app-proc_guide_fate_aged-sorption.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SANTE\/12586\/2020-REV 0<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new versions of PELMO and PEARL were also developed to <b>work in combination with the new PERSAM tool for PECsoil calculations<\/b>.
