It can cause significant damage to crops, mainly by transmitting viruses to host plants. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Myzus persicae <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is mainly controlled by application of chemical plant protection products, but resistance to most of these products has arised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9624068\/pdf\/EVA-15-1653.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">study conducted by scientists from ANSES, Inrae and the University of Montpellier and published in May 2022<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> analysed the diversity and genetic structure of aphid populations collected in France on peach trees, rapeseed and tobacco. The results showed a <\/span><b>clear genetic differentiation between the aphids collected on peach trees and those living on rapeseed and tobacco<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which implied a <\/span><b>limited gene flow between the three subgroups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> corresponding to the three crops. Similarly, resistance combinations are very different between genetic groups. Aphids sampled from peach trees were frequently resistant to neonicotinoids, while aphids sampled from rapeseed and tobacco very often carried alleles conferring resistance to pyrethroids and carbamates, but were not resistant to neonicotinoids. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resistance alleles were therefore not exchanged between these genetic groups.
