EUROPE – EFSA: Update of the EU database of processing factors for pesticide residues
22 April 2024EUROPE – COM: Update of the list of obsolete guidance documents
23 May 2024HSE (Health and Safety Executive) has developed new guidance on the efficacy data to be provided as part of an application for marketing authorization in Great Britain (GB). This concerns plant protection products (PPPs) containing active substances under approval or re-approval, for which the low-risk status, as defined in Article 47(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1107/ 2009 (amended by Regulation (EU) No 2017/1432), was claimed.
HSE will now accept submissions of reduced efficacy data for low-risk PPPs, ahead of the active substance achieving low-risk status in GB. This approach also allows submission of relevant existing reduced data packages submitted previously to other countries and may prevent an unnecessary number of trials being conducted (refer to EPPO method 1/296 (1) “Principles of efficacy evaluation for low-risk plant protection products”).
If the active substance is subsequently approved without meeting the low-risk criteria, a full efficacy dataset for the product will then be requested.
This approach taken by the HSE encourages the provision of low risk PPPs in Britain.
