On 16 December 2025, the European Commission proposed a package of measures aimed at simplifying the EU legislation on food and feed safety.
Among the proposed measures is a proposal to amend several regulations currently in force, including Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market.
This text would significantly modify Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. In particular, it would affect the duration of approval for active substances, the granting of provisional authorisations and the strengthening of the mutual recognition principle. Several points also aim to facilitate the placing on the market of biocontrol products and low-risk products.
This proposal must now be examined by the European Parliament and the Council.
