FRANCE–ANSES : ban on the main uses of S-metolachlor

Following its opinion dated 2023, January 20 and as announced, Anses has published, on 20th April 2023, the decisions to withdraw the main uses of plant protection products containing the herbicide active substance S-metolachlor.

Due to an unacceptable risk of groundwater contamination, 4 authorizations have been withdrawn. For 5 products, and 4 parallel trade permits, the authorizations remain in force, but some uses have been withdrawn.

The date of authorizations and uses’ withdrawal is set on 2023/04/20.

Grace periods granted are 6 months from the decisions for sale and distribution of the products (2023/10/20), and an additional 12 months for storage and use of stocks (2024/10/20).
