The Tax on Diffuse Pollution was set by the law for water and aquatic environments No. 2006-1772 and is collected by French water agencies and offices when plant protection products (PPPs) are purchased. It aims to reduce environmental pollution and human exposure to the hazardous substances contained in PPPs.
The list of substances concerned by the Tax on Diffuse Pollution is set by the Order of 22th November 2010 and is updated every year in order to consider the evolution of substance classification.
The draft order updating the list of substances for 2027 has been released for public consultation from 13 October to 06 November 2026.
In comparison to the 2026 list, the tax rate of 1 substance is increased and 14 substances are added to the list (notably 12 pheromone substances). No substance has been removed from the list.
