The EFSA guidance document on the assessment of pesticide residues in rotational crops (EFSA Journal 2023;21(11):8225) has been endorsed at the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (SCoPAFF) meeting of 24 September 2024.
As a reminder, without introducing any new requirements, this guidance illustrates individual steps of the assessment with flow charts, practical examples, and technical advice on how the provisions of the OECD Documents should be applied to be in line with the EU regulatory requirements, and then proposes new approaches to interpreting the studies (see our previous article).
The Member states agreed that guidance will apply to risk assessments of all dossier types from 1st April 2025, although they can already consult it for earlier risk assessments.
