FRANCE – E-Phy: New data fields in CSV table

As part of the monthly update of E-Phy open data, new data fields were added in the CSV files to answer users’ requests.

The following fields are now available: ‘second brand names’, ‘registration holder’, ‘trade type’’ and ‘range of uses’. In addition, authorised claims and active substances were added for each product.

As a reminder, the CSV table contains all the authorised plant protection products in France. It is organised by product and by use (one row per use and product). The table contains all the authorised and withdrawn uses for each product.

FRANCE: E-phy Open data are online

Anses has given free access to all data of e-phy website.

The downloadable files contain the characteristics of each product: approval number, trade name, product type, active substance and related data (risk phrases, active substance content …) and uses of the product.

Note that the files do not contain emergency 120-day authorisations or parallel trade permits.

There are two types of files:

  • XML files: they contain all the approximately 13 000 authorised and withdrawn products (plant protection products, fertilisers and growing media, adjuvants, combined products and mixtures).
The data are divided into multiple XML files. An XSD description file containing the fields and relationships is also available.
  • CSV file: it contains only the about 3000 authorised plant protection products. The active substances are unfortunately not included in this table.

The files should be updated monthly. The version online is dated 13/06/2016.

Note: when e-phy data are reproduced in a document, the source “Ephy data – Anses – Date of data update” should be cited.

FRANCE : E-Phy website is back on-line

As part of its new responsibilities regarding approvals of plant protection products, fertilisers and growing media, and adjuvants, Anses is now in charge of E-Phy database, the national reference for the authorised uses of these products in France. Anses has just achieved the revision of the tool.

The new version, characterised by a more modern and intuitive user interface, is now available: https://ephy.anses.fr

The new E-Phy website keeps the same structure and spirit compared to the old tool: it is built on the principle of product sheets, the products being classified by category.

E-Phy also proposes new functionalities in order to meet expressed expectations, such as the characterisation of products authorised for organic farming.

The creation of filters facilitates the searches (product status, function, use, authorisation for amateurs, bee claims, etc.)

On the website, a presentation document (in French) gives several tips for browsing and searching.

At last, the new E-Phy website is intended to evolve. Other functionalities will be added in the coming months, always with the objective to increase the capacities of search and to meet the expectations of all users.

France : Revision of E-Phy database

E-Phy database, the catalog for plant protection products, adjuvants, fertilisers and growing media, and their authorised uses in France, constitutes a reference tool that is currently outdated  in term of  interface and technology. The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (Anses) is working on the revision of E-Phy database in order to propose a tool with ergonomics and functionalities corresponding to current standards.

The new E-Phy database will give information on authorised products and active substances: it will aim at providing information to both professionals and general public. The characteristics and conditions of use of the products, as defined in Anses’ opinions and decisions will be shown. The site will also give more general complementary information, for example on good practice and on post-authorisation follow-up.

The new E-Phy website will be available by the end of 2015.

Attention: while waiting for the publication online of the new tool, the current website will not be updated anymore . During this period of transition, it is recommanded to consult in parallel the recent authorisation decisions directly on Anses website.
